Osage, also referred to as the “City of Maples”, is the County Seat with a population of 3568. The Osage School District meets the educational needs of the youth in the community. Osage has many industries and a flourishing downtown with many shops and restaurants. There is an abundance of events and activities year-round including the Mitchell County Fair, Fox River Sock Sale, Autumn Artistry, and the 4th of July parade. Osage also houses the Cedar River Complex which includes a fitness center, indoor swimming pool, basket/volleyball courts, the historical society museum, and an auditorium. The Cedar River runs through the West side of town and there is a campground and a kayak access point.
